6 Essential Blazers for a Timeless Wardrobe

Wondering what sort of blazers to invest in for a timeless wardrobe?

Nothing pulls an outfit together quicker than a blazer in my opinion! As a student, diplomatic spouse, and a teacher, I find blazers to be the most versatile items in my wardrobe, because they can be dressed up or down.

For diplomatic functions, I throw blazers on over a dress. I wear those same blazers when I go to class at the university teamed up with jeans and sneakers. When I teach, I usually team up blazers with wide legged pants and a neat pair of loafers. I have owned some blazers for more than 5 years, and they are still in fashion!

So here let me share with you my 6 Essential Blazers for a Timeless Wardrobe (I have these colors in my own wardrobe as well) as well as some suggestions where to buy them.

1. The Navy Blazer with Gold Buttons

A Navy blazer with Gold Buttons is essential for a timeless wardrobe. I’ve probably worn my navy blazer the most, just because I can so easily dress it up or down and the gold buttons just makes the garment pop! Also as I’ve grown older, I’m more inclined to wear ‘softer’ darker colors near my face, as I feel black makes me look older!

2. A Houndstooth/Checkered Blazer

For a preppy sort of look, I love a good houndstooth/checkered blazer! They go well with tailored pants as well as jeans and a simple T-shirt. Best of all, these blazers are also really in style in 2022. (Do they ever go out of style?)

4. A Beige/ Light Neutral Blazer

I took me years to invest in a light beige blazer, because I was always too afraid of getting it dirty. Now I can’t stop to wear my light beige blazer from H&M (same as the one in the pic below!). A light neutral blazer brings an instant feeling of ‘luxe’ to any outfit.

5. The Black Blazer

The Black Blazer is as important as the little black dress. I can’t mention enough how many times a black blazer has saved my outfit from disaster! Good black blazers are definitely worth the investment!

6. The Color Pop Blazer

I’m all about neutrals, but a color pop blazer is a must have in a timeless wardrobe. A bright blazer is useful for festive days, for making a statement and just because they are fun! My favorite color pop blazer is a Fuchsia Pink item which I bought at Zara years ago, and I still wear it very often.
